Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Net Ping Monitor.

What is Net Ping Monitor?
Net Ping Monitor is a macOS app for monitoring hosts with ICMP ping, live RTT charts, alerts, traceroute and subnet scans.
How do I tell whether the problem is my router, my ISP or the service?
Monitor three points at once: your router (for example 192.168.1.1), a public DNS server (8.8.8.8) and the service you depend on. If the router chart spikes, the fault sits in your LAN or Wi-Fi. If the router stays flat while public hosts fail, call your ISP. If both stay green and only the service drops, the problem is on their side. The charts keep the history as proof.
How many hosts can I monitor?
The full version supports unlimited hosts. For most Macs, 50 to 100 active hosts is a practical range.
What data does the app collect?
Your monitoring data never leaves your Mac. Net Ping Monitor does send anonymous crash and performance diagnostics through Sentry so we can fix bugs faster, and you can turn that off in Settings. No hosts, IP addresses or ping results are ever sent.
Does it support IPv6?
Yes. The app supports IPv4, IPv6 and automatic IP version selection per host or globally.
Can I monitor local network devices?
Yes. It works well for routers, NAS devices, Raspberry Pi boards, printers and other devices on your LAN.
Can I export and import host configurations?
Yes. Export to JSON or CSV for backup and analysis, then import again without duplicating existing hosts.
